Preview of Netflix’s ‘Three-Body Problem’ Reveals January 2024 Release Date

At the Tudum fan event, Netflix released the first reveal trailer for the upcoming science fiction series, 3 Body Problem, and announced that it will premiere in January. The series was initially scheduled to air this year, making the delay relatively brief.

If the name of the show sounds familiar, it’s probably for two reasons. First, the showrunners are former Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo. Despite viewers’ deep hatred for the final season of HBO’s fantasy epic, Benioff and Weiss remain a known quantity that can catch the eye.

Second, 3 Body Problem is based on a very successful book series, just like Game of Thrones, only this one is already done. Let’s listen to it for the rest that already exist! The book series written by Chinese author Liu Cixin is one of the most famous sci-fi epics of recent years, so there could be something special here.

For this, Netflix released a trailer that is heavy on eye candy and light on story. That’s okay though, because those who want spoilers can just read the books. Some of the actors starring in the series include Benedict Wong (The Martian, Doctor Strange), Eiza González (Baby Driver) and Game of Thrones veterans John Bradley and Liam Cunningham.

January isn’t that far away, so we won’t have to wait long until we know all about the three nominal chassis and the issues that come with them. Here’s hoping Benioff and Weiss earn some goodwill with this show. Anyway, this is a much cooler idea than the weird alt history/slavery thing the duo almost pushed through on HBO.
